News | Sacred Heart & St Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Aston

This Friday (19^th June) is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a very special day in the Church’s calendar and particularly for us at Sacred heart Church, Aston. The love of God for us shown supremely in the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus is central to the Gospel. There have been many devotions to the loving Heart of Jesus through the Christian millennia, especially those of St. Gertrude and St. John Eudes, but the devotion as we know it goes back to an obscure nun in a convent in the small French town of Paray le Monial in the 17^th century. This nun, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, experienced visions of Jesus who told her to start devotion to his Sacred Heart on the first Friday of every month and to celebrate a feast on the 19^th day after Pentecost. Private revelations are always treated with extreme caution by the church, but eventually they were recognised as authentic and the feast

Extraordinary Missionary Month (EMM) October 2019

Pope Francis has declared October 2019 to be an extraordinary missionary month. The theme is ‘‘Baptized and Sent: The Church of Christ on a Mission in the World”.

Therefore, this month is a special time of prayer and action, inviting us to renew our missionary commitment and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

PRAYER FOR THE RENEWAL OF OUR PARISH

Heavenly Father we thank you for all the blessings in our

life specially through our Sacred Heart parish community.

We thank you for the priests, and all the faithful for their

valuable contributions to the community throughout the

decades. Lord as you have given us the opportunity to

renew the Church building we humbly ask your special

grace to renew our minds and hearts. May the Holy Spirit

transform our parish as a missionary parish, and may it

attract more families and young people to the Kingdom of

God. Give us the courage to proclaim Jesus as Lord and

open the doors of Evangelization within our community.

We ask for vocations from our parish and increase of faith

and holiness among the children at Sacred Heart

School. Let the community grow in unity and fellowship

that it may serve as a place

Starting of the New RCIA

A course will start on the Catholic faith both for those adults who would like to become Catholics and to help those who are already Catholics to get a more adult understanding of the faith.

It will start on Monday 18th September at 3.45 pm in Sacred Heart School in Earlsbury Gardens, B20 3AE. The sessions will finish at 5 pm. Please ring the bell at the school.
